    Why hold a funeral?

A funeral is important and is a traditional practice ever since the beginning of humankind. Since funerals conform to burial requirements, it is a social obligation while also a spiritually and emotionally fulfilling process.

A funeral is a ritual and it is usually public. It can also be a private ceremony when exclusive family members and close friends are the only people allowed to participate.  Most funerals are traditional and spiritual in nature and are a means of expressing grief, emotions, feelings and farewells to someone who was loved dearly.

A funeral is rich in its own history and different religions, cultures, and races have their own ways of performing burials and funeral ceremonies. With the funeral ceremony, we are brought to acknowledge death and can express our grief in meaningful way. We bring testimony to the life of the deceased and show support to family and friends.  Orthodox Funerals often combine religious customs and faith, the acknowledgement of eternal life for the deceased and the celebration and mourning of the life and death of a loved one. There are many feelings and memories which are evoked during a funeral service and are often remembered forever.

Orthodox Funeral Services realises the importance of all these elements and therefore provide you with the best services and the best venue for all your needs.  Our services are fixed while at the same time personalised and we cater to everyone’s preferences.

    When to Hold the Funeral?

There is no set time to have a funeral. Every religion and culture is different.

If the funeral is not held within seven working day, embalming is then required under the Public Health regulations.
